Jason Aldean Takes ‘American Idol’ Stage With First Idol Winner

Jason is enjoying the success of the song, and is thankful his first choice for a duet partner — the first-ever ‘American Idol’ winner — loved it as much as he did. When Kelly heard a demo of the song, she immediately agreed to do it. “Kelly came in and we started cutting vocals on her, and the first note she started singing, I thought, ‘Oh my God, this is going to be really good!’,” Jason told The Boot.com. “She’s an amazing singer and was really cool to work with. I couldn’t believe how easy it was really to get it happening. Dealing with record labels and getting through the red tape, that’s the worst part of it. All we did was play her the song, she loved it and was all about it.”

Rihanna, whose duet with Sugarland’s Jennifer Nettles blew the country audience away at last week’s Academy of Country Music Awards, is also set to perform during Thursday night’s (April 14) results show. ‘American Idol’ airs on FOX at 8:00 PM ET.

Preparing to hit the airwaves with his new single, ‘Dirt Road Anthem,’ Jason takes his party on the road tonight (April 8) in Florence, Ariz., and Albuquerque, N.M. on Saturday (April 9).
