“Dirt Road Anthem” #1 Party at BMI

Jason and the song’s writers, Colt Ford and Brantley Gilbert, received plaques and accolades from Jason’s label, Broken Bow Records, Country Radio Broadcasters, the Country Music Association and others.

“Dirt Road Anthem” marks Jason’s 7th #1 hit single; it’s also been the best-selling ringtone of all musical genres for the past 14 weeks.

Aldean was suitably modest when he came up to accept his trophies for “Anthem.” “This song was pretty much a hit before I got hold of it,” he said, giving a nod to writers Brantley Gilbert and Colt Ford, who had success with the song on their own respective albums before Jason.

Just when it seemed the presentations were done with, Benny Brown, the owner and CEO of Broken Bow, begged for the crowd’s attention so he could give out one more award — an unscheduled one.

He observed the one constant support in Aldean’s career has been his wife, Jessica, who worked and encouraged him even when his career seemed to be going nowhere and he was thinking of leaving Nashville and retreating to his native Georgia.

“Probably if it hadn’t been for Jessica,” Brown pondered, “we wouldn’t know Jason Aldean as the superstar he is today.”

With that, he called the lady forward and said, “Here’s the keys to your new Lexus.”

Jason Aldean Continues the ‘Party’ with Tour Sell Outs & New Single!

Country music’s top selling artist of 2011, Jason Aldean, continues to sell out tour dates across the country on his record breaking My Kinda Party tour. The tour’s second leg claims 12 more cities to its list of advance sell outs.

“Jason’s ‘My Kinda Party’ tour continues to sell out major market buildings in advance, which I stated earlier this year,” said Live Nation’s Brian O’Connell. “The only thing that has changed from the Spring is now we are selling out months in advance! This kind of ticket selling success tells me that the word has spread on how good his show is, and frankly, Jason and his band are just scratching the surface of their potential live show. The future is unlimited for these guys, and I am thrilled to watch it happen on a daily basis.”

“But 20,000 fans made darn sure their tickets were in hand well before the big night. And when all was shouted and done, they must have been glad they thought, and bought, ahead.” Tampa Tribune

Aldean also continues to make his mark at country radio with the release of “Tattoos On This Town” as the fourth single off My Kinda Party. Following Aldean’s three consecutive PLATINUM certified and No. one hits for the disc, the track is available to country radio today.

Colt Ford, Jason Aldean, Brantley Gilbert & More Perform Together at Georgia Charity Benefit!

ColtJasonBrantley
Colt Ford, Jason Aldean & Brantley Gilbert at the Colt Ford & Friends Benefit Concert

It was an incredible evening filled with music, camaraderie, and vivacity as country music artist and Athens, Georgia native Colt Ford welcomed friends Rhett Akins, Jason Aldean, Dallas Davidson, Mike Dekle, Edwin McCain, James Otto, and surprise guests Brantley Gilbert, Rachel Farley, and Corey Smith to the recently rebuilt Georgia Theatre stage on Tuesday, August 16 to raise money for the families of fallen Senior Officer Elmer “Buddy” Christian and surviving Senior Officer Tony Howard. The emotionally-charged sold-out event attracted over 200 people to a private reception and silent auction at the Hotel Indigo’s Rialto Room for a pre-show celebration before the crowd of 1,100 enjoyed an evening featuring all the artists ‘in the round’ with Ford’s band backing the performances. Altogether, the evening raised over $85,000 for the families, with monies still being donated in the wake of the performances.

The evening held several special moments with one of the most memorable being Aldean, Ford, and Gilbert’s performance of the No. 1 hit (penned by Ford and Gilbert), “Dirt Road Anthem.” Ford reminisced saying, “The first time we ever did this song was me and Brantley right here [on the Georgia Theatre stage],” before turning to Aldean and sharing, “but thank you for taking this song to No. 1 for us!”

Aldean chimed in, “I want to thank these two guys right here for writing this song. It was a hit before I ever recorded it, so thank you both.” The rendition opened with Aldean performing the first verse, followed by Ford and Gilbert’s unique adaptation of the song’s second and third verses.

The aptly titled “Colt Ford and Friends” event was conceived after Ford learned of a shooting earlier this year in his community that left his high school friend, Senior Officer Howard, injured and resulted in the death of Senior Officer Christian, leaving both families at a financial disadvantage in the tough economy. In less than one month, Ford organized the fundraiser and called in friends to help him pay tribute to Christian’s memory.

Ford will present a check to NobleHeroes, a nonprofit organization created to assist the honorable men and women of public safety in America, on Monday, August 22 in Athens, Georgia with all the proceeds from the silent auction, tickets, and donations going to the families. To make a donation online, please visit www.nobleheroes.org.

Join UNICEF This August In A Month Of Giving!

In 1971, George Harrison organized the Concert for Bangladesh as a way to help his friend Ravi Shankar in alerting the world of the plight of the Bangladeshi people, many of whom were victims of floods, famine and civil war. To pay tribute to the Concert for Bangladesh, and George and Ravi’s friendship, this August has been designated as the “Month of Giving.”

All month, musicians and performing artists across the world are asking their friends and fans to support the George Harrison Fund For UNICEF and UNICEF’s work for children in support of the current emergency in the Horn of Africa. Today the Horn of Africa is facing what is being called the worst drought in 60 years, and famine has been declared by the United Nations in two regions of southern Somalia. More than 2 million children are acutely malnourished, including half a million children who are at imminent risk of death if they do not receive immediate lifesaving assistance.

The George Harrison Fund For UNICEF is a joint undertaking between the Harrison family and the U.S. Fund for UNICEF to support UNICEF programs that provide lifesaving assistance to children, including health, education, nutrition and emergency relief. In the tradition established by George Harrison and Ravi Shankar, the George Harrison Fund For UNICEF continues to support programs in Bangladesh, while expanding its influence to other countries where children are in need.

You can participate by visiting TheConcertForBangladesh.com, or text FRIEND to UNICEF (864233) to donate $10 to the George Harrison Fund For UNICEF.
